Further details - At the same time as Ginetta were developing the G23 the decision was made to use some of the work from that model to update the G21. The result was the G24 launched alongside the G23 early in 1980. The G24 featured the new G23 style bonnet complete with pop-up headlights but at the rear the chrome bumpers featured on the G21 were replaced by a stylish plastic moulding incorporating the now mandatory high intensity fog lamps with reversing lights alongside.
For the chassis, the front G21 set up was unchanged, but at the rear while the solid axle was retained the trailing arm set up was changed to the type used on period Vauxhall cars (as on the live axle G23 development) featuring long lower arms onto which the spring acted. This gave a greatly improved ride quality with no detriment to the handling and the added bonus of improve noise suppression. Despite the quality and obvious appeal of the G24, interest was limited and it was decided not to go forward to full production. Two chassis were built, one sold as a complete car, the other part completed. Some years later a further body chassis unit was sold although this car had a different rear suspension arrangement
